Biplob has over 35 years of experience in the exploration and mining industry through careers in Rio Tinto (1995-2009), Geological Survey of India (1986-1995) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (1985-1986). Biplob was previously a Director, country head and Exploration Manager for the mining major Rio Tinto Exploration in India. As Director (Geology), in Salva Resources, Biplob led the mining services team of Salva Resources operating from India. Biplob has explored commodities like diamond, base metals, bauxite, nickel, coal, iron ore, gold, industrial minerals and petroleum in all continents of the world, over 30 countries. His skills include creating, managing and leading integrated (cross functional and cross cultural) mineral exploration teams. He has carried out conceptual geological assessments and project generation, exploration project design, developed project teams and managed exploration projects at various stages of exploration: early stage-greenfield, pre-feasibility to feasibility studies, developed business strategies as country manager (India) and Director of Rio Tinto Exploration (India). Biplob been to every corner of India (26 different states), and different parts of the world. The most exciting places he has worked have been oil exploration in the Arabian Sea, geological mapping and mineral exploration in the Himalayas, exploring for diamonds in the Kimberleys of Australia and the Arctic Canada and metals exploration in the Sub-Saharan Africa.
